MCP server

A browser MCP server for Chrome and Firefox

Your coding agent runs Hoverify's audits, inspector and screenshots in the browser you already have open. It works on localhost and on pages behind a login, because it uses your tabs and the sessions in them.

Your agent fixes a page, then checks its own work

Claude Code asks Hoverify to audit a local dev server, edits the CSS it points to and runs the audit again, all in the browser you already have open.

Ask your agent

Describe the job in your terminal, the way you'd brief a teammate.

Agents

Works in the coding agent you already use

Any agent that runs local MCP servers can call Hoverify. Here is what that looks like in three of them.

Claude Code

Ask for the page on an iPhone, a Galaxy and an iPad. Each loads at that device's own screen size and comes back inside its frame. The agent sees what a visitor would see.

Cursor

Pick an element in Hoverify's inspector, then ask about "this one". The agent gets its HTML, the CSS rules that style it and its size.

Claude Desktop

Ask for a link preview or a changelog image. Hoverify's screenshot editor builds it and leaves it open for you to adjust.

Setup for 23 agents

Hoverify's AI agent page shows the command or config for each, with your port filled in. Any other agent that runs local MCP servers takes the same config.

Tools

What the Hoverify MCP server can do

Beyond audits, screenshots and the element you picked, the agent can read the rest of what Hoverify sees in the tab.

The same tools are panels in the extension, if you'd rather run them yourself.

Setup

Connect your coding agent in three steps

You need Hoverify signed in with an active license, Node.js 18 or later and an agent that runs local MCP servers.

  1. Turn it on in Hoverify

Click the AI agent button at the top of the Hoverify popup, then turn on the switch at the top of the page it opens.

  2. Add the server to your agent

In Claude Code, run claude mcp add hoverify -- npx -y hoverify-mcp. Other agents take a short config, and the AI agent page shows the exact setup for 23 of them.

  3. Allow it once

The first time an agent connects, the Hoverify icon gets a ! badge. Click it and choose Allow. Agents on that computer connect without asking after that.

Control

What the agent can reach

The agent works on your pages while you're signed in to them. Some limits are fixed, and the rest are yours to set.

You decide who connects

You allow it. Hoverify asks before the first agent connects, and Forget on the AI agent page cuts every agent off.

It switches itself off. After 30 minutes without a call, and when you sign out. The server listens on 127.0.0.1 and web pages can't connect to it.

You decide what it can do

A switch per tool. Turn off screenshots, or just PageSpeed and the GEO AI review, for every agent.

Only your tab and its own. The agent works in the tab you're viewing and the tabs it opened. It reads and captures pages. It can't click, type or scroll. Forms and buttons stay yours.

You see what it did

A note on the page. While a tool runs, the tab shows a toast such as "Claude Code is checking accessibility", and the Activity tab lists the last 20 calls.

Screenshots follow your settings. With Hide sensitive content on, emails, card numbers and keys are pixelated before the image leaves the browser.

Audits

audit_seo
Meta tags, headings, images, links and structured data, with a fix for each issue and the selector of the element at fault. Broken links and PageSpeed Insights when the agent asks for them.
audit_accessibility
axe-core plus Hoverify's own checks, with selectors, HTML snippets, contrast fixes and WCAG references. It uses the standard and exclusions you saved.
audit_geo
The GEO score for how well AI search can read and cite the page, with issues ranked by how much each fix should raise it.

Page details

get_site_stack
Frameworks, libraries, analytics, hosting, DNS and SSL.
inspect_element
An element's cleaned HTML, the CSS rules that style it with their stylesheet URLs, custom properties and box size.
get_selected_element
The element you pinned or are hovering in the Hoverify inspector, for when you tell the agent "this one".
get_fonts
Font families with their weights, sizes and where they load from, plus fonts that failed to load.
get_colors
Color variables, the colors used for text, backgrounds and borders, and every color the stylesheets declare.
list_assets
Images, inline SVGs, videos, Lottie files, PDFs and the favicon, with sizes and dimensions.
download_assets
Saves the assets the agent picks to local files, up to 25 MB a file and 40 MB a call.

Whether Hoverify is connected and which browser and tab the session is using.
open_url · reload_tab · close_tab
Open a page such as your local dev server, reload it after a change and close the tabs the agent opened.

design_screenshot
A finished image for a changelog or a PR, made in Hoverify's screenshot editor with a background, a frame, annotations and a headline.
get_design
Reads back a design you opened and changed in the editor, so the agent's next pass can keep your edits.
